Religious Education (RE) Registration 2011-2012
We would appreciate that all children be signed up in advance so we have a good count on the number of children that will be attending. This year we are asking for each family to make a free will donation to the RE program at the time of registration, if they are able.
The Juniors and Seniors will have the choice to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this year! 2nd graders will be able to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist!
We plan to have a Religious Ed. 2011-2012 kick off fun night. Sept 14th! We will begin with a carry-in supper at 6pm in the hall. Fr. Matt Koperski will talk to us about vocations. FINDING (a local Christian band) will play! There will be games for all to enjoy!
Registration forms will be available at the church and you may take them home and return them if you wish. If you have filled out a form in the past please find it the night of Sept. 14th and update any changes.
RE teachers meeting has been scheduled for Sept. 7th.
We will have Mass on Sept. 21st at 6:30pm to bless and begin the new year of classes! The first classes will be held on Sept. 28th. K-5 grades will meet from 4-5pm. Grades 6-12 will meet from 7-8pm.
If you have any questions please contact St. Nicholas Religious Education 2011-2012 Directors, Wanda Nielsen or Jessica McGinley
List of Prayers
Each year we will be concentrating on certain prayers for each class. They will work on these things in class, but would you please help reinforce them by saying these prayers at home? By the end of the year, they will hopefully have memorized them and be ready for new prayers next year. Also, please remember that Mass attendance is an important part of developing and living our faith. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. For a list of the prayers each grade will be working on click on "read more" below. If you are unsure of the words of a prayer, they are in the blue catholic devotional, ask the DRE office for copies, or click on "read more" below.

Nick Cards
The St. Nicholas CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) are selling Nick Cards. See a youth grades 8-12 after weekend Masses. We have a card table set up in the Narthex and someone should be there to sell the cards. These are gift certificates to Scotty's and McDonald's. If you purchase a $100 card you can buy $100 worth of product. If you only get $25 worth, you will still have $75 left for the next time. The McDonald's ones are plastic cards and will be automatic and the Scotty ones are paper and will have the balance written on the back after you pay with them at the store. When you buy a Nick Card to Scotty's ($100, $50, and $25 good on all products), they give the CYO 15% for selling them. ($100 you = $15 CYO) When you buy a Nick Card to McDonald's ($5), they give the CYO 10% for selling them. ($5 you = $.50 CYO) When purchasing a Nick Card from the youth, please make sure to make checks payable to "CYO" or "St. Nicholas CYO". When you are finished with the McDonald's cards, you may return them to the youth at the church and we can use them again.

"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, & I trust him. 4 he will rescue u from every trap & protect u from deadly disease. He will cover u w/his feathers. He will shelter u w/his wings. His faithful promises r your armor & protection. Do not b afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Children's Bulletin
Each week we have a bulletin for the children. The bulletin usually has a coloring page on the front that goes along with the gospel for the week. The back is another coloring page or other activity that may pertain to another aspect of the church or daily life. Children may complete these bulletins and return them to Mass as part of their offering. They receive the bulletin from the priest and the altar servers when they give their offering during Mass, or they may pick one up afterwards. They may also find that their completed bulletin is displayed in the entry on the Kids' Space bulletin board.
Pumpkin Patch Activity
CYO Youth held a Kids Pumpkin Patch on October 10, 2009 at the Cherry County Fairgrounds. Here are a few photos from our fun filled day.
